TRAVEL RESOURCES

Below are the tools, apps, and products that have helped us travel full time in our RV and complete long road trips across Canada. These are not random recommendations. They are resources we have personally used and that have made life on the road easier.
Free New Brunswick Road Trip Checklist
60+ Must-Visit Places in New Brunswick (Free Road Trip Checklist)
Planning a road trip through New Brunswick? We created a free checklist with 60+ must-visit places across the province, including coastal towns, scenic viewpoints, lighthouses, and national parks.
It’s the exact list we used during our 5-week road trip across New Brunswick, and it can help you plan your itinerary faster.
Essential Apps & Websites for RV Road Trips
These are the websites and apps that made our RV road trips across Canada much easier. We used many of them almost every day during our travels.
Harvest Hosts
Harvest Hosts allows RV travellers to stay overnight at unique locations like farms, breweries, wineries, and local attractions.
Thanks to our membership, we have stayed in some amazing places, including:
• Lyndburg, Ontario
• Moth Brewery in PEI
• A hydroponic farm in Saint-Léolin, NB (Enogrow)

iOverlander
This is easily the most used app during our RV travels.

iOverlander helps you find places to stay overnight, including:
• Free campsites
• Boondocking spots
• Campgrounds
• Dump stations
• Water refill locations
The free version is already excellent, and the paid version includes even more features. More than 90% of our 5-month road trip was planned using this app.

TrustedHousesitters
We have been pet sitters on TrustedHousesitters since 2022 and have completed more than 30 house sits.
It’s a great way to stay in one place for a few days while caring for someone’s pets. It allowed us to slow down during our road trips before continuing to the next destination.

We often book activities through Viator.
For example, we used Viator to book our Hopewell Rocks tickets, and the process was smooth and simple.
RV Products That Make Life on the Road Easier
These are products we personally use in our RV that make daily life and remote work much easier.
EcoFlow Power Station
Our EcoFlow Delta 2 power station has been a lifesaver while travelling.
Since we don’t have full electric wiring inside our RV, we rely on our house battery for the essentials. After doing extensive research, we decided on the EcoFlow Delta 2 to cover our additional power needs, and it did not disappoint during our 5-month RV trip.
It allows us to:
• Charge our laptops multiple times
• Power small electronics like our coffee grinder, phones, motion-sensor lights, drill batteries, and more
• Use a thermal blanket during cold nights for up to 8 hours
One of the best features is how quickly and flexibly it recharges. We can power it with solar panels, recharge it while driving, or plug it into a regular outlet and have it ready in about an hour. This means we can stop at a café, recharge it, and have enough power for another full day.
In our experience, the battery easily lasts between 24–30 hours with regular use.
EcoFlow Solar Panel (160W)
Our 160W EcoFlow solar panel allows us to recharge our power station without needing access to electricity, which has been a game changer while travelling.
We bought it together with the power station, and it was such a great decision. We installed it on the roof of our RV and usually leave it there throughout the day. On average, it takes about 6–8 hours to fully recharge the power station using solar energy.
It does take longer than plugging into a regular outlet, but having it connected during the day gives us a steady source of extra power without needing to think about it.
It’s especially helpful when boondocking or staying in more remote areas, where access to cafés or power sources is limited.
RV Battery Booster
A battery booster is one of those things you don’t think about… until you really need it.
We found the NEXPOW Car Jump Starter 4000A on Amazon, and it has been incredibly useful during our travels. We used it multiple times to start our 24 ft 1999 RV, especially on very cold days when the battery was struggling, particularly at the beginning of our trip.
What we love most is that you don’t need another vehicle to help you. You simply connect it, and it works just like a traditional battery jump (but without waiting for someone else to show up).
It has also allowed us to help other travellers on the road, which is always a nice bonus.
We’ve used it several times and highly recommend having one with you.
Jumper Cables
Jumper cables are another must-have safety item when travelling in an RV.
Call us extra cautious, but we like having both options. If the booster is ever without battery, we still have the traditional cables to rely on, whether we need help from another vehicle or want to support someone else.
It’s a simple, affordable item that can make a big difference when you need it most.
Portable Coffee Grinder
We love fresh coffee in the morning, so travelling with a small portable coffee grinder has been a must for us.
It doesn’t take up much space, and we can easily power it using our EcoFlow power station. It’s simple, practical, and works really well, even on the road.
We’ve been really happy with it and highly recommend it if you enjoy good coffee while travelling.
French Press Coffee Maker
A French press is perfect for RV travel because it doesn’t require electricity and is very easy to use anywhere.
It’s simple, reliable, and consistently makes great coffee without needing any extra equipment.
This is the one we have, and it works really well for us on the road.
RV Water Hose
An RV water hose is essential for connecting to campground hookups and public water sources.
It’s important to have a hose dedicated only for drinking water, so you can safely refill your fresh water tank. During our travels, we found that some campgrounds don’t always provide potable water, so being mindful of where you connect your hose really matters to keep your water clean and safe.
We always make sure to use this hose only for drinking water and avoid using it in places where the water isn’t safe.
This is the one we use, it’s reliable, easy to connect, and we haven’t had any issues with it.
RV Sewer Hose
A good quality RV sewer hose is essential for RV travel. When we bought our RV, it came with an older hose, so we decided to replace it with a new one. It turned out to be a great decision, the one we use has been reliable and easy to connect when emptying our tanks.
There are many options available, but this is the one that has worked really well for us.
RV Toilet Treatment
RV toilet chemicals (tablets or liquids) help control odors and break down waste in your black tank, making everything work more efficiently and smell a lot better.
We’ve tried both tablets and liquid options. The main difference we noticed is convenience, the liquid comes ready to use, while the tablets need a bit of time to dissolve.
That said, we didn’t find a major difference in performance, so we usually go with whatever is available and keep testing different options.
Outdoor Gear We Use on the Road
Since we enjoy hiking and other outdoor activities often during our road trips, these are some of the items we always bring with us in our RV, and truly love and recommend.
Klean Kanteen Water Bottles
We’ve been using our Klean Kanteen water bottles for over 8 years, and they’re still going strong. They keep our water cold for hours, are very durable, and have held up incredibly well through all our travels and hikes.
